Gold Leaf Lettering on Honour Boards & Antiques

It is the traditional way to hand letter names on honour boards using 23 karat gold transfer leaf. The appearance of a craftsman built board with hand lettered gold names undoubtedly instills stability amongst members & confidence in the club room or establishment

An oil based size is used to hand write the names or any scrolls required, only when the size has reached a drying time known as a 'Whistling Tack' the leaf is applied.

The result is classic, stately and unique, and cannot be replicated by computer generated lettering.

When reverse gold leaf gilding on glass a 'Mock Emboss' or embossing can be achieved in the outlined lettering. The lettering must first be outlined & trimmed. When applied correctly, a 'Matt Gold' inner highlight, 'Shade' or several 'Prismatic Effects' can create the appearance of 3-Dimension lettering also highlighting the brilliance and mirror effects of the applied 23 Karat gold leaf.

See our Gold Leaf Signwriting page for an example of the Mock Emboss effect being applied to a Gold Leaf Window Signwriting Project.
